Install in three steps

Download

  1. Download the installer

    Grab the universal installer (.jar) for Windows, macOS, or Linux (requires Java 17 or newer).

  2. Run the installer

    Start vanilla Minecraft once in the version you want, close the launcher, and click Install.

  3. Pick the profile and play

    Select the Plexus Mod Loader profile in the Minecraft Launcher, drop your mods into the mods folder, and play.

Fabric mods on 1.20.1 to 1.21.11 are translated to Mojang names on the player's computer and run. Forge (all four versions) and NeoForge (1.20.4, 1.21.1, 1.21.11; no 1.20.1 release) were verified headless without client window checks; Quilt mods are only assessed and many need QSL. Fabric or Quilt mods cannot run with Forge on 1.20.1/1.20.4 or NeoForge on 1.20.4/1.21.1 yet, and conflicting mods are excluded and counted on the title screen.

    Checked with popular Fabric mods on 26.1 and 26.2 (138 mods on 26.2, including Sodium, Iris and Lithium) on the client and dedicated server, and on 26.3 servers (headless, 2026-10-27). In 2.1.0, Fabric mods also run on Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.20.4, 1.21.1 and 1.21.11, translated to Mojang names on the player's computer; real-mod test sets pass there (headless).

    Checked with popular NeoForge mods on 26.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2 (54 mods on 26.2, including Sodium and Iris) on the client and server, and on 26.3 servers with NeoForge 26.3.0.98 (headless, 2026-10-27). In 2.1.0, NeoForge 20.4.253 (1.20.4), 21.1.265 (1.21.1) and 21.11.48 (1.21.11) run mods, verified headless on dedicated and game test servers; client windows unchecked; no 1.20.1 release.

    Checked with popular Forge mods on 26.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2 (40 mods on 26.2) on the client and server, and on 26.3 servers with Forge 66.1.0 (headless, 2026-10-27). In 2.1.0, Forge 47.4.28 (1.20.1), 49.2.13 (1.20.4), 52.1.21 (1.21.1) and 61.2.5 (1.21.11) run mods, verified headless on dedicated and game test servers; client windows were not checked.

    Quilt mods run with the Quilt Loader API, their Mixins and access wideners—no separate Quilt Loader needed.

    Checked against every Quilt-only build on Modrinth for 26.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2, and on a 26.3 dedicated server (headless, 2026-10-27). Mods that need QSL are left out because QSL has no 26.x release. In 2.1.0, 1.20.1 to 1.21.11 Quilt mods are only assessed before launch, not run yet; many need QSL or Quilted Fabric API.

  • Mixing loaders

    Fabric and Quilt mods can share one game with Forge mods or with NeoForge mods when their game patches fit.

    Mods with patch conflicts are left out before launch and counted on the title screen (26.2: three Fabric mods beside Forge, three Fabric API modules beside NeoForge). Forge and NeoForge cannot share a game. Mixing works on 26.3 since 1.2.5. Fabric or Quilt mods cannot run beside Forge on 1.20.1 and 1.20.4, or NeoForge on 1.20.4 and 1.21.1 yet.
